Deep dive into Excel
The course is prepared by Dr. Anton Miglo. Anton has a lot of expereince of teaching excel-related courses in top universities around the world. His basic education is in economic cybernetics and he has PhD in economics/finance. Learn from Anton how to use excel in finance. 8 lessons. About 3 hours total. Includes a mix of online materials, videos and excel files. No preliminary knowledge is required.
What will you learn
This course provides and introduction about how to use the versatile capabilities existing in Excel to construct financial models. Students are exposed to examples and applications in basic principles of Finance, as well as applications primarily in Financial Management and Investments. Special attention is paid to the importance of time value of money and risk in finance. Students will get an introductory experience in conducting market transactions and also in market data analysis using Excel by participating in an on-line financial market simulation. The course consist of 8 sessions. For each session students will have a video recording available, PPT slides and a set of questions/exercises with solutions.
Excel is one of the most useful tools for managers, analysts and entrepreneurs finance.

Upon completion of the course:
- – students will know the major features of Excel used in finance
- – students will know how to facilitate the solution of many financial problems, such as future value, present value, net-present value, internal rate of return, risk etc..
- – students will be able to build spreadsheets that use Excel’s advanced features to solve real-world financial problems.
- – students will be able to using the built-in functions of Excel.
- – students will know how to apply their basic knowledge of financial, investing and statistical concepts into building spreadsheet models.
- – students will understand the basic principles of finance including the importance of time value and risk in decision-making.
